Classes for everyone!
The Sew London Project is a dynamic creative Art, Craft, Recycling and Sewing studio where we offer a range of sewing skills, courses from beginners to advanced textile workshops, Tie & dye, Up-cycling, painting, drawing, teaching adults courses and children’s after school club.
We are passionate about what we do at the Sew London Project, teaching the next generation Arts and craft skills. Due to the popularity of the ‘Sewing Bee’ BBC programme – dressmaking and sewing are making a great come back.
We encourage adult learners to attend out beginner’s workshops, one day workshops or intermediate /advanced dressmaking classes.
At the Sew London Project we have courses for different groups as follows –
Meet the Machine
Have you decided one of your new year resolutions this year is you will conquer that sewing machine that is gathering dust but you just don’t know how well Get to meet YOUR SEWING MACHINE WORKSHOP come, learn and conqueror.
THE SEW LONDON PROJECT is running a great course on how to use your sewing machine.
This much awaited course ‘Getting acquainted with the Sewing machine ‘and it’s anatomy.
This workshop’s aim is:
- Threading a machine / Winding a bobbin
- Using a machine to make basic straight or zig-zag stitches
- Sewing a straight line
- Getting familiar with some basic seams
- Ironing your seams
- Sewing corners/ Sewing curves
- Different feet of the sewing machine
- Trouble shooting / reading your machine manual
You will come away from this lesson with samples of seams and stitch samples you have made.

Children /Teenagers after school club

Sew London Junior crew
This is our workshop for 8-11 years olds to learn a range of basic sewing skills to build confidence on the Sewing machine. They are given a range of projects to complete over a school term which is 12 weeks in small groups of 6 in 1.5 hour sessions. We also have classes over the school holidays.

Sew London Senior crew
This is our workshop for 12-16 year olds to learn basic sewing and sewing machine techniques. Students will work in small groups of 6 for a 12 week period working on projects such as a skater skirt, tie-dye T-shirt and many more projects.

Commercial Pattern Adaptation – Pattern Cutting Course 6 Weeks
(This course requires you have intermediate Sewing skills, or prior sewing knowledge. Handouts available on the day.)
On this 6 week course we will introduce you to adapting a commercial pattern and will create 4 styles from this one pattern. This could be creating a different sleeve, neckline, bodice adaptation or skirt.
Tea and coffee provided.
You will need to bring the following with you –
Basic sewing kit – Scissors, Thread, Pin cushion, dressmaking pins, ruler. All Sewing machines
Mother & daughter workshop
Mum’s and daughters can make something together – a little keep sake, a bag, hat,matching simple tops or skirts or work on a project together.
Cost £80 for two people 4 hours
Its Vintage all the way – How to make a Full circle skirt or dress
4 hours £60
Its a wonderful year to go Vintage in 2016 as we celebrate the Queens 90th birthday! Think WW2, crimson lipstick, rations, Vera Lynn or Elvis, The Swing Dance and post war life.
This popular shape is a classic that is perfect for any occasion depending on how you accessorize it.

Up cycling & Alterations course
This is an opportunity to be creative with your old clothes. Instead of throwing away your old jeans or jumper bring them down and lets show you how to make a skirt, pillow or bag by adding some buttons, studs or applique. You get the chance to learn new skills and transform an old tired item into something new for yourself or as a gift for someone. This course is best for those with basic sewing knowledge.

We offer private lessons to assist you with items you want to make or learning basic dressmaking. We can fit around any time to suit you by prior arrangement.
The fee per person per hour is £25.00 and a machine and equipment will be avaliable.
